I began my career as a production assistant, documenting behind-the-scenes of HBO TV and film productions like “Boardwalk Empire”, “Bored to Death”, and “You Don’t Know Jack”. I learned how to light and dress a set, collaborate with high-profile talent, conduct interviews, and most importantly, craft compelling stories.
Managing a production agency in New York City allowed me to further refine my storytelling skills as I led the creation of a wide range of content—from government training videos to infomercials (and a few music videos, too). I grew into a consultative partner for clients across the entertainment, corporate, non-profit, and public sectors. While their goals were varied, my approach was consistent: Influence audiences by seeing the world from their perspective.
When my wife and I decided to raise our family away from the big city chaos, I transitioned into the educational technology space, working in the eLearning department of a healthcare talent management solution provider. My content production background served me well while revamping nurse training courses, developing partnerships with third-party creators, and improving operations. Learning the complexities of corporate talent development sparked a new passion:
connect people to educational opportunities that will improve their lives.
As my career progressed, I kept encountering the same issue: every different department would choose if, when, and how to educate their different audiences. This lack of a unified strategy yielded negative consequences, including inconsistent messaging, low engagement, low customer satisfaction, reduced productivity, and difficulty retaining customers and employees.
